The 9th China-Japan Joint Workshop on Sustainable Management of Cities and Regions under Disaster and Environmental Risks Was Held Successfully in Beijing

From October 14th to 18th, 2017, the 9th China-Japan Joint Workshop on Sustainable Management of Cities and Regions under Disaster and Environmental Risks was held successfully in Beijing. This workshop was jointly held by CEEP of BIT, College of management and economics of BIT, Beijing Key Laboratory of Energy Economics and Environmental Management and Disaster  Prevention Research Institute of Kyoto University. More than professors and students from Kyoto University, Ryerson University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, Sichuan Normal University, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, China University of Mining and Technology, University of Science & Technology Beijing attended the workshop.

 


The workshop, entitled Risk Management and Sustainable Development under Climate Change, consists of keynote lecture, inviting lecture and post presentation. Professor Tatano from Kyoto University, Professor Wei from BIT, Professor Hatayama from Kyoto University and Professor Liu from Beijing Normal University delivered the keynote lectures. In addition, 26 more experts and young scholars gave the inviting lectures and 15 more young scholars displayed their own research results respectively via post presentation. On the closing ceremony, the first, second and third prize of Young Scientist Presentation Award was given out based on the research issues, contents and presentation skills of students.

 


China-Japan Joint Workshop on Sustainable Management of Cities and Regions under Disaster and Environmental Risks was initiated in 2004 by Professor Wei from BIT and Professor Okada from Kyoto University. This workshop is held in China mainland and Japan in turn, aiming to strengthen the academic communication between Chinese and Japanese scholars on socioeconomic system modeling, disaster management, risk management and energy economic & climate policies. The previous eight workshops were respectively held in Beijing, Kyoto, Zhenjiang, Kyoto,  Beijing, Kyoto, Beijing, and Kumamoto.
 

This workshop has achieved pleasant results, deepened the interactive friendship and facilitated the cooperation between Bit and Kyoto University.
